Eco-Friendly Printers

by Preservation Properties

In our eco-friendly efforts, we have been looking at printers who can be both cost-effective and green. That isn’t easy combination.

But luckily, after weeks of searching, and trying a few places that didn’t work out, we’ve found a great printer that is somewhat local, uses recycled content and soy-based inks for great prices and quick turnaround. On top of that, they are very friendly and helpful to work with. They’re called

They don’t advertise it blatantly, but all of their paper products, from business cards to envelopes, are partially recycled content, as well as using soy-based inks. They’re paper is also FSC (Forest Steward Council) certified.

We’ve made several orders from them so far, and have been very happy.

Happy ordering!

Newton's Harvest Fair

by Preservation Properties

The Newton Harvest Fair was great fun. We really enjoyed coming out, meeting more of our neighbors, and participating in a great community event. It was interesting to see all of the other participants and learn about their services.

We were also happy to have the chance to show our green mission. Since we’ve announced being Newton’s first green real estate company, we’ve been compiling a list of GREEN GOALS. We can’t wait to share that, and it will be coming out soon. Check back here!

People seemed to love our little blue spruce saplings, part of our HELPING OUR COMMUNITY GROW GREENER campaign.

We ended up giving away almost 300 for adults and children to plant. In addition, we gave out some of the items we put in our customer appreciation canvas bags. Everyone was quite intrigued by the biodegradable pens, especially.

Newton's FIRST Green Real Estate Office: We're Doing the Right Thing!

by Preservation Properties

Hello from Newton, Massachusetts! We are a small real estate company with something to say. We have made the decision to do the right thing by becoming a more environmentally friendly company. First, we recognize the amount of change an individual can make by being more conscious of the world around us. As a company of individuals, we have even more influence—and we want put our full efforts towards having a positive effect in our community.

Second, like many of you, we are just beginning to learn what environmentally conscious choices and possibilities are out there. The new array of advice, web sites, ‘green’ products and ‘eco’ services is overwhelming. There are so many questions. Who is trustworthy? Where are the facts best represented? What do all the new eco-labels mean? And how do we compare, to make sure our choices truly make the least environmental impact?

As we sort out answers, we want to share our journey with you. When we figure out choices and decisions that work, you’ll share them with us.

We also think you’ll be interested in seeing how a small company makes the leap into being more environmentally conscious. And, we think you’ll like watching how a we, as a real estate business, translate being green into everyday challenges of assessing, selling, and representing homes. How will being green effect our services? Will it effect who we represent? And of much interest: how will our customers react?

We’ve begun by trying to define our shared values, in conjuncton with reading some research out there.  We also want to know what doing the right thing means when you work for profit.

Please follow us on this journey in finding out what works and what doesn't work and how going green can be made of many small steps but all of those small steps will eventually get us somewhere.
